Monday 9th September 2019

In today’s lesson we got to introduce ourselves with one another as well the other class, as which we got to work out several facts about one another.

We also learnt about Fringe Gate theatre; High End, which involved a festival where people come and perform.

Greek Theater

Ancient Greece

Ancient Athens – Drama

The city of Dionysus which is the Festival named after the god of fertility and wines.

It would be performed in spring for time of renewal.

They invented the olympics

The performance would take place in the morning

They’d compete.

Written 3 play’s and the 4th play would be a parody of their tragedy play this being satire.

Fundamentals

Trilogy – Parody.

Rules

  1. It must have a protagonist.
  2. They have to fall by the end which results as Hubris
  3. Because they have a flaw
  4. Not because of them being bad or good
  5. They wanted to teach the audience to be more aware.

A thymela Alter was built which a goat was sacrificed by the name of Tragos

Thespis – Singer: used masks to distinguish different characters as the others acted like narrators.

538 BC: Female characters and masks we’re played by guys.

They’d also have the Skend which would be a Hut or tent.

In the 4th century: Thirty two tragedies survived as a second actor was also added which then initiated dialogue.

As then it went in the order of Dance, Songs, and then dialogues which lead up to Tragos; Tragedy.

The play would start with a Prologue.

In today’s lesson we recapped with a small quiz to see how much we took in from the past sessions.

We then also learned about Aeschylus, sophocles

Shakespeare’s Globe

It was built around all of Shakespeare’s plays so that they’d fit the purpose and would be more effective as the play’s we’re written specifically for the space.

The audience is the most important part of the Globe as they add a Dynamic feel to the space, as they create a strong unifying effect upon reacting as well placement throughout the theatre such as the Pit; although it still costs this would be the most cheapest space to afford since it’s for all of the low income people.

As there would also be stand alone plays which would be there for emphasising.

Shakespeare can think his way into a women’s as well a males mindset.

The performance would go on for three hours exactly where they would be needed to go to the toilet where they stood as well other events would be occurring at the same time.
